KME Broadhead Sharpener

I will admit from the start that I am sharpening challenged!  I am not sure why, but I have always had a problem in this area.  I have been looking at the KME sharpener for whipping my zwickey eskimo broadheads into shape for this season.  Does anyone have any experience they can share with me?

They work.  I just got a half-dozen Grizzlies in and have 4/6 hair-shaving sharp.  The system takes a little practice, but once you've got it, it works better than anything else I've ever used.  I used to file-sharpen the Grizzly heads and thougth I had them sharp - not even close to what I get with the KME.  And, as ishoot4thrills stated, the customer service is excellent.

With the KME you'll get your Eskimo's sharper than they've ever been... hair poppin, scary, cut your eyes if you look at them sharp.

Now Charlie, that is sharp!!  JimB, that is quite an edge; mirror finish and all!  I have spoken to the folks at KME once before and even own their stones.  Just never purchased the sharpener.

Any particular tricks or secrets to using it?

Well, I pulled the trigger last night and purchased a KME Broadhead sharpener.  I am quite anxious to get it and see if it makes a difference in my sharpening abilities.  Thanks for the input!

I have the KME knife sharpener and additional stones for three blade heads.  I like te knife sharpener more than the broadhead sharpener since I can sharpen knives as well as two blade heads.

I to am sharpening challenged. The KME has made me look like I know what I am doing. At the very least do read the sharpening tips on Ron's website. Even better drop him a note and ask him to give you a call. Well worth it to start right.

I agree with everyone.  I couldn't sharpen anything until I purchased a KME at Denton Hill.  Now I look like I know what I'm doing.

It's a 200 gr El Grande,before it was called the Kodiak and with the old,coarse grind.

I did a how to also,which is in the How To Resources section.

I was sharpening challenged too. I bought a KME and STILL had difficulty.
I called up Ron, he talked me through it over the phone a couple of times. Excellent customer service, excellent product, excellent results.

Thanks to everyone for your input also.  I should have my new jig in  few days and since I already had stones from Ron (KME) I should be all set... well except for a call or two to Ron, I am sure!

Jim B, are you using the Knife sharpener or broadhead sharpener?

I have said many times: You get 300.00 worth of customer service from Ron, no kiddin. I was in the garage last summer on the phone for 1 1/2 hours. By the sound of the filing, Ron guided me through it.

I have both and started sharpening Grizzlies with the knife sharpener.I now use the broadhead sharpener as shown in this "How To".

Once I get them sharpened the first time,it takes a minimal amount of work and metal off,to resharpen.I was also doing the old Grizzlies with a very coarse grind,before Zipper improved things.I have some new ones and it goes way quicker now.

Another vote for KME. Take your time and enjoy the experience. Still can't believe Ron (Sharpster) has not chimed in. Fact is, havn't heard from him on this site in quite some time. Hope all is well. Can't beat Ron's customer service.

BrownA5,you don't have to buy the expensive 3"X8" DMT hones like I did.You can do the same thing with the wet or dry sandpaper on a flat,hard surface like ceramic tile,glass or steel plate.
