Longnose gar mount
« on: August 29, 2012, 08:02:00 AM »
My youngest Madison and I both shot our first gar this spring, I finally had a little extra time to mount them, having trouble with Kodak easy share and can't get pics up, anyone that can help out? can e-mail no problem but won't share with photobucket ? Bottom fish a little darker than I wanted, have worked out a better paint scheule for next time, Madys fish turned out just the way I wanted, not hard to mount, just no commercial forms or eyes for gar, had to make my own. Mady was shooting an old Tigercat and I had my PSE coyote. Pics to follow, thanks TJ

Now that is impressive!  I have never mounted a critter, but I love gar.  I would give serious consideration to that in the future.  Nice work!

Thanks guys !  Like I said not real happy with bottom fish but was a good learning opportunity, paid off really well for the second fish, want to do more in the future, enjoyed mounting these two, next up is a big carp, have to shoot it first!

I shot a black gar once. Pretty rare around here. Man they are cool, I should have had it mounted. Nice work.

Someone needs to mount a gator gar. Imagine that taxi bill! Paying by the inch.

Wouldn't be to bad TJ, right around $750-$800 for a 6ft'er, same as a pair of whitetails, would be worth it if you had the wall space and a very understanding spouse!
