ny squirrel season
« on: August 31, 2012, 07:52:00 PM »
Season opens in the morning. I'm really looking forward to it. Who's going and what is your setup? I'm using my 47# @ 28" Griffin longbow with 2117 arrows with hammerhead blunts.

I might get out Sunday or Monday morning.  I may use my new Shrew Classic Hunter with 3555's and 125gr blunts.  I may have some hammerheads.  I'll use them if I can find 'em.

Not hunting today but I will be using a 68 Bear grizzly, Big river Log bow or Griffin longbow.  arrows are an assortment with hex heads, blunts and Flu flus.

Good luck fellers!
Relax,

Stood in the kitchen this morning and watched two squirrels enter the yard and said to myself, "if it was Sept 1 you two would be in trouble!" HOKEY SMOKES BOWINKLE it is Sept 1! Still in my camo bathrobe I grabbed my Hill Country Mohican longbow, 2 goldtip 35/55 arrows and screwed in a couple 125gr thumpers . I went out the front door and snuck around to the back of the house, but just as quick as they came into the yard,  they were gone. Tomorrow, watch out! I'm ready now, heck I even know what day it is

I had a good morning and got my first squirrel with trad gear. He's a small red squirrel but I'm very proud.

I bought the Griffin at Denton this year and fits me perfect. It hits where I look and now I can't wait for deer season.

Ron has set the bar high on opening day.  I think I will definitely try to get out tomorrow for a couple hours in the morning.  I'd be happy just getting a shot LOL!

Thanks Charlie, I can't wait to get back out this coming weekend. I'm getting some good practice in and some great scouting for deer.

As soon as we get a cool front
Been really muggy and hot lately.
Shot my bow yesterday and did some yard cleanup and was soaking wet when I came in

Squirrels are hard targets so to those who are successfule congrats

But I will soon me losing an arrow  :biglaugh:
