I had a older backpack that I had broken the zipper off of it yesterday, and since the backpack was now useless, I asked my wife who is very handy with a sewing machine to see what she can do with it.
I have been wanting to try a haversack for this upcoming season. I was in the market for either a fanny pac or haversack. Nothing big, just big enough to carry a few items such as a compass, hand warmers, flashlight,ect..

So she whipped me up this. She took off the small pocket, and sewed it to the front of the bigger pocket, cut off the shoulder straps, sewed them toghter and sewed it in the main pocket, and SCHAZAMM, I got myself a haversack..

You'd better take your wife out for a fine meal tonight!  Very nice work, and a great way to improvise a haversack.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Love it!  Looks great!  Should make quick hunts much easier, what can you put in that?

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

"Very handy with a sewing machine" is right!
