After 15 years of bow hunting, I picked up a recurve for the first time this spring and have completely converted to traditional archery. After shooting about 100 arrows a night for the last 4 months, I finally felt confident enough to try my hand at elk hunting this fall.
Here in Utah, a big bull tag may only come around once or twice in a guys life, but I'm perfectly content to hunt cows and spikes every year. I ended up calling in this calf to about four yards this weekend. That's a shot even I can make.
. I'm shooting a Tall Tines, that I love, with 150 grain Muzzy Fred Eichler heads and 75 grain brass inserts on Beman Classic shafts. I've shot some big critters, but I'm more proud of this little calf than anything I've ever shot because of the time and effort I've put into dedicating myself to traditional archery.
While I haven't posted much, I've learned a ton from this site! You guys are the best. Happy hunting and good luck to everyone else this fall.
