Bow silencers

What are the best silencers for a recurve in wet weather? I mean you don't need to do anything with them just because it's going to rain.

You a actually don't need any silencers in the rain.  Think about it.

And remember, all of your equipment is going to be wet and holding water, so make sure you don't miss low cause everything is going to make your arrow slower

Silencers also dampen vibration so he may need them for tuning purposes. Cat whiskers are the last word on string silencers if you hunt where it is wet, foggy, or gets dew.

I know if you are going to use silencers you should tune with them on your bow.  But silencers aren't used as a tuning factor or tuning instrument.  If they are, there's something else wrong with the set up.

Also, if your hunt/shot comes down to what silencer you have on your bow when its raining, that would make for a poor excuse for a miss don't you think?  

Do you really think with every bit of your equipment and yourself being totally wet that your silencers are the only blame?  

Just something to think about.

Are you just trying to say that if he gets wet on a hunt he should just pack up and go home? Because now that I've thought about it thats the only advice to be gleened from that comment.

No, I'm not saying that at all, just that there is more to worry about than just silencers.  So make sure you know that the total performance of all your equipment will be less due to all of it holding water to some degree.

Like I said, just something to think about.

Centaur Archery's Navajo String Silencers have worked well for me in all conditions including rain.  I don't have to deal with terrential rains but mine have been soaked and my setup continued to shoot just fine.  Although my 65# will be less impacted and clear the water better than a lighter bow.

I read his comments as "rain slows your arrows... compensate"... then again I have the reading comprehension level of a cardboard pizza box. As for sound in rain... though rain itself does create noise... remember that sound travels better with more moisture in the air.
