Heading to Alaska
« on: September 04, 2012, 10:22:00 PM »
By this time tomorrow I will have left Atlanta international airport and be well on my way to Salt Lake City. From there it is on to Anchorage for about a 5 hour layover. We will fly out of  Anchorage at 6am to Kotzebue. After grabbing a quick breakfast if the weather is good, we fly 50 miles northwest into the tundra on a DIY caribou hunt. I will be back in 10-12 days hopefully with stories to tell and pictures to show.
I'm going with Greg Campbell from Marshallville. He's done this 3 or 4 times already and was gracious enough to allow a novice caribou hunter to tag along. I am a little pumped needless to say! Wish me luck!   :wavey:

Since you have such a long layover in Anchorage, grab the shuttle to the Milenium Hotel and get an order of Halibut Chunks and Shrimp Bisque from the bar there.  I do it anytime I have more than a two hour layover...it is that good!

Glacier brew house was my favorite place to eat when I lived in Anchorage.  Moose's tooth pizza pretty good and can get some good beer at both places.

I think about 30 miles above the arctic circle! I haven't flown in almost 20 years so this whole trip will be quite an adventure!

Good luck and may the your arrows fly true.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
