Arrow Weight?

Is a 500 gn arrow to heavy to shoot out a 45# recurve. Im not a speed freak I just want the best killin setup possible.

It will work, but unless you are pulling 28 or better and have a great string, you are limiting your self in my opinion.  Why not shoot 400-450 grains?  Better trajectory, great penetration.  I just wander when a 400-450 grain arrrow was looked at as being inferior enough to trust?  A 450 grain arrow has killed far more game than a 25 FOC% and 13 gpp of arrow outta any weight bow.  Oh well, to each his own.  It will work if you put it where it belongs.  God Bless

I like 10 grains per pound as a benchmark. 9 seems to be great when using my bows around 60#'s for speed and accuracy, it is noiser. 11gpp seems great with my 50# bows. I don't know if there is a one setup best answer when you maybe after rabbit, hogs, deer, elk, or buffalo. I love my 730gr setup which is 25% foc, seems like it would penetrate anything well with a razor sharp broadhead. I probably wouldn't use that setup on rabbits, but I could. That setup is whisper quiet, I love that setup!

3. Decent 'mark' on the critter

You may then experience the answer and quell your concerns. Greater confidence will be engrained, thus continued positive results may be yielded.

I've been playing with a 2314, 548gr from my 45# recurve, and the bow really likes it. A little more arrow arc than my carbons, but a great flying arrow.
