I made a friend a dozen arrows and used natural turkey feathers and burned then into a shield. There were two or three arrows out of the dozen that made that "Howard Hill Zip" sound but the others were dead quiet. All were burned exactly alike. Perhaps it's that secondary feather thing going on.

My shafts sounds like a humming bird on speed, but I have not had a problem with deer jumping the arrow. I like how fast they straighten out and then buzz straight through the deer.
Haha thats awesome. Thank you all for your replies! i decided to trim the trailing edge of the shield and reduce the height a wee bit. They now look like parabolic feathers. Won't be able to test them out till the weekend though!

Good hunting to everyone!

I cant see the noise of a feather being too much.  I have devestated deer with Person Deadheads and they whistle like crazy... It's a death whistel.

I doubt anybody has ever missed a deer because of a hissing feather. Even arrows that sound silent at the shot are hissing downrange. Stand downrange beside the target and cringe at how much noise your arrows really make.
