Great going on a hard earned bull. I'm still at 'em, 11 days so far, and heading back tomorrow.

glad you enjoyed the tale.  i truly wish all of you could experience elk hunting sometime. there is nothing on this planet, in my opinion, that compares...

ill put of a few more random pics from my hunt. here is another of those 2 five points sparring.  it was funny, they were like kids on the playground.  started nice and easy and by the end (many minutes later) they were really going at it. kind of a you wont best me kind of thing.

is it September yet??

heres a bobcat we happened upon one evening.  i know hes hard to see but the eyes give him away..

these next 2 are from a scouting trip, this is one of the forest service outhouses at a trail head.  on the one door, the momma bear had pawed the heck out of it, and the other door you can see the cub imitating its mom.  neat stuff!

here are a couple more herds in the distance, scouting before season. LOTS of cows and calves, in fact too many.  i really think the bull/cow ratio up there is not good at all..

Congrats!  I bet you'd have been happy with that hunt even without that great looking bull.  A huge bull on the ground makes it that much sweeter.

and unfortunately i do NOT have a pic of this, but a bull i passed on the morning of the first.  he was a spike, but not like a spike.  the antler was huge, really thick.  couple little points at the tops.  and he was near another spike at one time, his body was nearly twice the size, looked like a cow standing near a calf.  my best guess was an old regressing bull.  i still kind of regret not shooting him.

Congrats on a great bull! Good to see that hard work does pay off with elk sometimes.
