Since I can't hunt this season...
« on: September 23, 2012, 01:58:00 AM »
Well due to getting a new job in a different state, I doubt I'll be able to do any hunting this season. So I will have to find something else to do with my leisure time. Like get my true traditional gear ready for next season. Was a lot further along in getting ready but some low life yankee stole all my tools (copper and antler) plus about 200 finished and unsigned points and bifaces. Told the police, if I catch the sob I'll scalp him.

not a bad start

Pretty sure I posted this pic last fall, close up of some hunting points

Nice work, sorry to hear about your misfortune!
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

Good luck with the move and job.  Those points are very nice.  Maybe you could find someone from here in your new area that would let you hunt?  its worth a shot in order to get out hunting.

I missed a season due to moving. Its tough being in a new place mid season, not knowing anyone and living amongst a bunch of anti's.  At the very least find some public land to go for walks on. Even if you are not "hunting"  you could be scouting. you will find areas deer are using now which should be close to this time next year.  I bet by the time that season rolls around you will be antsy to get in there with a freshly napped point.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Those are some great looking heads. Nice work. I'll be in your area this weekend. Shepardstown for a Chesapeake watershed forum.

I understand not all Northerners are like that. I'm use to southern hospitality, and a place where folks leave stuff that aint theirs alone! I had photos of some of what was stolen and about 1/4 of the tools were in the pictures too. But after talking to the police, the Lt. was quite concerned that I may actually start scalping folks if it happened again.

I'm sure who ever took my stuff scrapped the copper (several #'s of solid copper 1" bar stock, and 3/4" bar stock) let fido chew on the moose/deer antler batons, and probably sold/pawned the points as authentics. I do check the local pawn stores regularly to see if my "stuff" shows up.

This happened a few months back (I read here more than post) but as I acquire a few finished pieces I put them in my frame for a picture. It could have been worse, whoever stole my stuff left all my knives alone!

Don't matter if he's a yankee or Southerner, a thief is a low-life sob. Period!
