How can you not love a string follow ??
« on: September 27, 2012, 10:07:00 PM »
For the last couple of months I've been getting acquainted with a Northern Mist Shelton. Sure has been fun and very easy to match arrows to.. Seems like most anything shoots pretty well.. I need a bow like this thats forgiving ------!

I've been sitting a few stands for the last couple of weeks trying to kill a pig and I was always at the wrong place but this evening that changed..  Just before dark I heard an animal making it's way through the weeds which are six feet tall this year, we've had timely rains all summer.. He came sauntering into the clearing like he owned the joint. In just a moment he turned broadside. I came to full draw and let the string slip from my fingers. I was able to watch the white fletching spin right into the spot I was concentrating on.. As soon as it hit I knew he was mine.  I waited a few minutes and lowered my bow and daypack. There was good blood immediatly and inside of ten minutes I was standing over the pig..

The Shelton is 68" and about 53-54lbs at my draw of 29". The arrow was a 2016 tipped with a 160 grain Grizzly. The offside shoulder stopped the arrow.

Congratulations Pat...awesome accomplishment. I have a Robertson Purist longbow that is ever so slightly a reflex/deflex design but when strung, resembles a hill style bow. She is a sweeeet shootin bow. I can't explain it but the arrow goes where I'm lookin

Pat, you are a hog serial killer!  Man you put a whooping on them big pigs!  Great pig and great bow!  I am not sure what happened to your Sparrow Hawk, but a Shelton is a great bow for sure.  Good on ya man!!  :archer:

Pat ... a fine hog mate !

And a good sf straight limb with an Arrowmaster full of 2016 arrows is about as good as hunting rig gets I reckon eh !
I know coz I use exactly the same ... mind you my pigs are a tad smaller !

Is that a bit of the blood trail I can see by the log in the back ground ?

Ben, this critter was bleedin' like a stuck hog!

What a fine looking hog.  I just paid $1.99/lb for spare ribs with up to 10% flavoring solution & thought I was doing good.
