Green risers
« on: September 27, 2012, 10:35:00 PM »
I am strongly considering getting a custom bow next year.  I have no idea what yet.  I really love the look of green in the riser.  I would love to see some bows with green and please let me know make and wood type so i can start getting ideas to get one ordered. Thanks

Check out Bob Lee Archery's Envy model. I'm partial to green myself and that's a sharp looking bow.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

I love the looks of the GREEN risers too.  Great Northern makes some bows with GREEN glass and all their stuff if gorgeous.  I'd love to have one of their Ghost or Super Ghost recurves with green glass.  Northern Mist also makes green glass bows using the same stuff Great Northern does.  They are pals I guess and went in to get that batch of custom green glass.  I'd love to have one of his Hill bows with Green Glass.
I have also seen a green riser bow that darn near made me go to a knee.  Some member posted a pic of his PRONGHORN 3 piece takedown longbow with a green riser and limbs.  I tell ya it was, and I'm sure still is, gorgeous.  Made me want one from the instant I seen it.

Hopefully he'll chime in and post pics of it.  If not, and you or others want to see it, post here and I'll nose around and find it on my hard drive cause I copied it to save it.  I'll re-post it if you all want to see it.

Good Luck and those green bows are awesome.

That's the French Green Dymondwood that I call Evergreen Ken.

I sure wish they made the Bob Lee Envy Green color in Dymondwood! I really like that shade of green.

I love Green in the riser, especially with the black and white overlayes on the front of the riser and black glass on the limbs. It reminds me of the older Bears.

There is only one natural green wood and that is Vera or lignum vitae. It starts out with king of a greenish carmely kind of color and darkens with age. Very attractive and dense.

I have some Maple burl and quilted maple that has been died and stabilized. It makes a very attractive bow too. Unfortunatley must have my wife help me post pictures here so not likely to happen soon.

We have some dark green actionwood that will make a very pretty riser.  I've made two so far but put it with the black Onyx and you have to get into the sun to see the green very well.  Need to make an all green one.

Oh GOD that's it.  The Pronghorn I mentioned.  Oh my, what a GORGEOUS Bow.  Any more pics of her you can show?  I'd like to see a full length pic or 3.

Thanks for posting her.  She is dazzling for sure.  Heck if I had that bow I probably wouldn't care if I killed anything with it as I would be just meandering around the woods staring at my bow.

Not to minimize the other Greenies posted here.  These are some fine looking bows in this thread.  Really nice and I enjoy checking them out, so thank you all for sharing them.

Some mighty fine bowyers in these parts for sure.
