Here is the buck I shot yesterday morning. It was one of those mornings were almost all went right. I was up in plenty of time, had all stuff together, quiet walk to the stand, no problem finding the stand, and settled in for a relaxing morning watching the woods wake up. About 0800 I was daydreaming with my head down when I heard a noise. It was an 8pt bigger than this one already broadside in the opening at 15yds. Doh! I slowly stood and got into position but he picked up something, go nervous and worked his way into the beech brush with no good shot. I saw this deer behind him and was ready when he came into the opening. About a 20yd shot, 50yd recovery.
Its bittersweet since I know the best hunting is still coming. Guess I have to get a tag and drive 8 miles to hunt NY.
