A good mornin in N. MO
«
on:
September 30, 2012, 10:39:00 AM »
Got in stand early without bumping any deer, had to loop around to walk down the sandy creek south of me and then cut thru timber to stand..
Heard a couple big somethings 40 or so yards east of me at daybreak, but too thick to see em.
Then about 7:30, deer started coming over the hill in hayfield north of me. 1st one was a doe , she peed and then looked back. HUH !! Too early for that isn't it?
She is grooming here, but had looked back already, slow on the camera trigger!

Then I look along the timber to the north and there is a better buck coming around the corner 300 yds north., then 2 more all fairly equal 8 pts.
They disappear but soon come out about 200 yds from my hideoutwith another buck added. 2 of them scrap a lil,
and the other 2 meander down to me, ever closer.....
They go by at 4 yds from my perch, and I let em go, its early and there are bigger boys around to see a little later....

Thanks guys!
Scott, I'm 40 ish miles SW of Kirksville. Got a friend by Bible Grove, he finds some awesome sheds up there!!
Shawn, I suspect it will be around Halloween. I got plenty of vacation and the freezer isn't hurtin. :D
Tryin to not hunt any stand too much til the big boys come out in daylight. Don't want to get in close to the bedding area just yet.

Hey Kenny...she wasnt "grooming" but just making a little "part" in her hair for you to aim at. You got real polite deer down there Kenny. Very gracious of her.
Cool pics and stories this year and you just started. Wish I could travel to hunt..I'd try and be down there. Looks beautiful. Love those big Oak leaves.
