Being the true sportsman I am, if the deer seems to be unaware of my presence, i will often fire a warning shot, just so all is fair.

Was shooting a 3D course earlier this year using my Martin Hunter Recurve(bare bow) and grouped up with some friends that use more modern gear with adjustable sights and it was my turn to shoot first. Well I got up there to the stake and with all eyes on me I sent one into the briar patch behind the target, missed it clean.

They all just kinda gasped, I just looked at my bow acting very puzzled and just said that my sights must have came loose.

They all laughed and proceeded to helped me find my winger.

If that's the case then my bow shoots so slow I should be left with nothing but hamburger after the shot.

Bookmarked for later reference. Thanks Joe I was running out of them. I hate to use the same one twice, then it becomes stupidity and not an excuse.

My best one is a looking at my bow with a slight pause followed by either "Huh, whats this bow doing?" or "Well boys it looks like I just suck."

The universal excuse:

Global Warming (caused by that rascally Republican, George W Bush) made the air lighter and caused hot wind turbulence that I forgot to compensate for.
