Question Re. Surewoods in a Short Recurve
« on: October 08, 2012, 03:10:00 AM »
So, I've just received a fantastic Two Tracks Ambush, and I'm shopping for arrows. I've heard some great things re. Snag (sponsor on here - Wilderness Custom Arrows) and Surewood shafts, so I've decided to go that route. The problem is, I've never bought arrows for such a short bow, and I've never bought Surewood shafts. I was hoping I could get some advice re. spines, here, if y'all'd be so kind.

In short, I've got an about 27.25" draw; the bow is 47# @ 28"; the string is a 10-strand D10; I like 125 grain FPs and BHs. What'cha think?

Maybe this is a stupid question, and there's no additional considerations for short recurves and Surewood shafts (ala when you +5# for FF string, +5# for carbon lams in the bow, etc.), but I thought I'd just drop a line and check - just in case.

Thanks for any and all help, folks! Hope all's well, and have a good'n!

Well, there are no stupid questions.
Just tell David (Snag) the info above and he'll come up with your arrows. He's a one stop shop.
And a really good one. You'll love the Surewoods, I bet. They look so beautiful all stained/dressed up.

My ambush, 49# @ 28", loves full length 60-65 douglas fir Sherwood shafts, with 125 grain Eclipse broadheads .

I have found that every bow is different as to what they like in arrows.  May be a good idea to get a few test shafts to make sure you get it dialed in.

Just wanted to take a second to thank you guys for the input. David actually got in touch with me right after I posted the question and he's been kind enough to discuss everything with me and give me his expert opinion. I placed my order with him a couple days ago and am looking forward to some beautiful arrows!

Thanks again and have a nice night!

I bought Douglas Fir shafts from Surewood and they are fantastic shafts. Check out their website, they offer a test pack of arrows too.
