Good one Iz.
That's the kind of effort that pays off after the girls, etc. wears off a bit and the time with the old man is good again. Gotta get the foundation well made.

First things first, Izzy. Before you know it it will be his kids getting off the bus. You can never get back the time you don't spend with them....and, in my case it didn't make a dent in my hunting success. Just makes everything more special and balanced in your life. He knows you love him not because of what you tell him but because of what you do with him.
The best things in life....aren't things!

great message Izzy ,your kids DO grow up fast & then they are off to live their own lives. It doesn't seem that long ago that I hunted with my kids-now my youngest (twin boys)are 33yrs. old with their own familys.

There is nothing more important than forming a strong bond and showing them you think they are important.  Soon he will be joining you, then taking you.  Great post.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Exactly the reason I don't hunt near as much as I did before I had kids, starting 18 years ago. Oh, I love to hunt but I love being with my family more. Also, pretty much the reason, too, that I'm not a trophy hunter. I just don't have the time to wait on a big whitetail nor do I have the best places in the world to hunt for trophy size bucks. I'll be taking my two sons deer hunting this weekend after work for the youth gun hunt Saturday and Sunday. Good times ahead!   :)

You have clear vision.  My baby is 30, and we just spend a great weekend of rifle hunting with a cow and two bucks in the freezer.  Some day he will be taking you hunting if you play it right now.  My boys and I just click while hunting as we bonded when they were young.  Good on ya, dad.

Way to go my friend! My wife put a curfew on my hunting for the next few days as I got a bad head cold and my ear is badly infected.I told her I was thinking of going hunting tommorrow and she jumped in saying no way! Seams loved ones sometimes know whats best for us.My mind also goes crazy this time of year.Glad someone has some common sense!LOL
