Most of my hunting is in Frederick County.....sorry for the delay but just got done with a chocolate milkshake!

Back to the story: Started this past May in Baltimore at the BBTC. Walking with my good buddy and we happened upon some LH bows for sale and could not pass up a great deal on a Leon Stewart longbow. Always have admired them and this would be my first one.

Tonite would be the first time this bow has gone afield and with the cooler temps hopes were high.

This spot is on the side of a mountain with the Appalachian Trail not far away. The set up is along an old stone wall that, as you might imagine, seems to cause the deer to walk along beside it until it ends. Pretty thick in here....

It was a little breezy at first and the wind wasn't cooperating like I had hoped but things calmed down. After a while it switched to blowing downhill, right in my face, and just in time.

Couple of yearlings came through first but I could see that they weren't alone.....she was the first big doe in the line and when she got close enough it was "all systems go" and the Stewart zipped an old school Easton 2018 in Trebark camo pattern through her so quick I couldn't even see it.

She ran off but didn't make it far at all and fell within 30-40 yards or so. My kind of blood trailing!

Turned out to be bigger than I thought and was sure glad it was a downhill drag and not uphill!

Wishing good luck to everyone heading afield!!
