Arrow rests for Carbon Arrows?
« on: October 13, 2012, 11:17:00 PM »
I have been a longtime fan of sealskin or calf skin for my rests and they have worked well with all my arrows except for my new Arrow dynamic traditional shafts.  Drawing the arrow back across the rest there is a distinctive noise that is just not there with the Grizzly sicks I have been shooting.  I like the ADs better but the flat finish seems a bit on the noisy side.  Has anyone had luck with synthetics or just plain leather?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich

Rich - I use the Martin leather rest/plate on my longbows and shoot AD Trad Lites. The leather is "spongy", so it's pretty forgiving.  I like a little harder shelf rest for durability, so I rub superglue into the shelf portion of the leather.  I have no issues with noise using this material and these shafts.  Another quiet material is velcro both on the shelf and plate.

I use Velcro and calf hair just depending on how thick of a side plate I need on different bows and have not noticed any excessive noise with the AD's.

Industrial Velcro (fuzzy) is what I use. Lasts a long time and is quiet with my carbons.
