I just got my first traditional bow, a 58 or 59 Bear Alaskan.  Not sure if it fits the bill. I need proper arrows, but I want to go trad, and if I'm good enough, maybe take a whitetail next season.

That bow should do fine, maybe get with some of the carbon guys and see how they bump up the head weight to give it the punch you want. All in all I would shoot it.

I think I have owned seventy five or more 50s style recurves. Both vintage and newer ones.Mostly newer ones though.

The Whippenstick Inferno is really nice in overall performance and very sharp looking.Mines a 2 PC.I like his limb design!

I am also shooting a 62" River Runner currantly and really like it alot.

Thiers definatly many other very good ones available from other builders.

I have a 58" 64# Saxon that is a sweet little bow.  Unfortunately, no longer made and hardly ever see the Saxon recurve come up on the used market.  It is worth a try if you can find one.

Wish I could do a better picture but we have near blizzard conditions going on right now. My Saxon Kadiak. Custom made for John Nail by Randy and now in my closet. In my humble and biased opinion a lovely bow.

I've owned a 60" Chinook. It was one of the best shooting bows I've ever owned.  I also had a super ghost that I think is very under rated.  Very smooth draw.  I shot it very accurately.  I've owned a Kurv, which was very accurate and exceptionally quiet.  I shot my first 2 "Robin Hoods" with my 56" PSR.  right now, I have a Lone Wolf Banshee. That is one of the sweetest bows I've every shot, especially for a 52" bow.

Mahaska and Kohannah Kurve are 2 great bows reasonably priced.  I had my first Trad Kill with The Mahaska after coming back to Trad with it. The one I shot the most accurately was a Widow PSR. Just something about it just clicked.
