Just finished these yesterday. I like the way the grain in douglas fir looks when stained.
I put a back taper on these and used an ebony stain on them.

snag, said it once I will say it again.....
I do not think you will find straighter shafts than Surewoods. I thought I liked POC till I got my first dozen Surewoods. Tougher too and you can call and get the weight you need. With 160gr tips mine come in around 600-650 grains
