Rivercane, Obsidian and Osage... I DID IT!

Last night I realized a goal I have had for some time now.
Hunting with a selfbow I made, shooting a rivercane arrow I cut, straightened and fletched, with a point I knapped, I harvested a nice doe.
The shot was about 12 yards, and broadside. I hit 6" high and 6" left. It missed the shoulder blade by 1/4". I was lucky.
The arrow only went in about 6-8". The tip broke and with her running through the brush, it did an amazing amount of damage.
She ran about 60 yards, stopped and stood for a few minutes. I was whispering " please go down!"
Her tail was flickering quickly as I lost sight of her. I listened and thought I heard her stumble and lay down.
After waiting 30 min to get down, I went to get a better light. I went to where I saw her last. No blood. I looked where I heard her stumbling. I walked right by her once and then there she was!

Jim,
That is awesome! I have the same goal, but I am quite a ways behind you. I have found suitable arrow shaft material, my first attempt at a self bow broke and I have only read about knapping. I'll keep plugging away at it. Nice doe.

Thanks guys. I will go back to my glass bows eventually I'm sure.
It was amazing to see how effective a bow and arrow set of all natural materials is.
The simplicity of the two, bow and arrow. The quiet thump of the bowstring, and the elation of collecting a hard earned trophy. Priceless.
