Jim,
I would retire it.  I was wondering the same thing about the stone I killed a doe with a few weeks back.  The head was in perfect shape and I had planned on strapping it back on an arrow, but I think its best to date it and sit it away...maybe let one of my boys use it someday.  That's JMO.  Congrats once again!  Awesome job

Good work, on the kit and the hunt!!!

I did the same a few years back and had nearly the same results; 50# osage, 10 yards broadside, only about 6-7 inches penetration from tip of flint, and almost no blood. She ran prob'ly 75 yards, but I was able to see her go down in the open woods.

Took me two years of waiting for the right situation to even take the shot!

I'm sure the lack of a pass through was due to the poor shot on my part. I rushed a little. It seemed that as soon as the string hit my anchor, the arrow was on its way. I usually pause and focus on the spot before release.

Here is the new head on the arrow I used. This pic is before gluing and tying it in.

great stuff mate. i'm in the process of making my primitive kit right now. what string were you using? i've made a rawhide string for my selfbow and i'm impressed with how it shoots. and easy to make as well.

again. well done.

Thanks guys. The string is commercially made. One of the things I need to learn how to do.
