Congratulations Jen!  I second TJ's thoughts.  Unfortunately, I know exactly the mixed feelings that a spine shot can present.  Had it happen myself just this year on a doe.  
Still a far more humane end for an animal considering the many other possibilities that they face every day.
You did good, and will do even better on the next one.   :clapper:

Stay the course Jen.  I feel a special connection as my very first deer as a teenager was spine shot and my father had left to go back to the house... Also in Michigan (Antrim County).
