Asbell wool - how long is the typical wait?
« on: October 24, 2012, 10:04:00 AM »
Without getting into details, it's been a while after I've ordered and I haven't heard anything from Teresa.  I tried e-mailing her but got no reply in a week.  I have an upcoming hunting trip starting Nov 2 so I may need to get some more camo since I've outgrown my older clothes.

I know it's hunting season too so she may be a bit backed up but I'm just curious about how long it typically takes.

Morning Garrett, I ordered and paid for mine with paypal on Sept. 24th. I received notice on October 15th from paypal with the tracking information. It took until Monday the 22nd for anything to show up with the number, and when I checked the tracking number Monday, it shows my hoodie should be delivered today. Yea! I too have been waiting, but at least it has been too hot in Oklahoma to use it. That is supposed to change this weekend and I am anxious to see what comes in the mail today.

I guess she was just backed up for hunting season.  Just got an email today saying it was being finished up and would be in the mail this afternoon.  That's good news so I'll have it for my hunting trip.

Typically takes a while for anything i order from them to get to me.  I know that going into it so no worries. I understand them to be good folks and trust my package will arrive as I ordered it. unfortunately, they do lose a bit of business from me as I prefer prompt shipping.

I'm usually fairly patient.  I am just running close to my big hunt of the year and have outgrown my old hunting coats.  I contacted Teresa again today and she said she'd finish my coat up and have it shipped out today so no worries.

Garrett, mine was in the mail when I went home to check at lunch. The wait for me was a month exactly, but it appears to be worth it. Nice looking wool hoodie. Can't wait to try it out. I am sure you will be pleased when you get it and I seem to remember reading somewhere on the order page to expect 3-4 weeks, mine came in 4 weeks and 2 days.

I'm thinking about ordering one for Christmas.  I guess now would be a good time to order.  Which one did you get goldfinger?  I'd love to see a pic.

I have a Mac, I ordered and it took about two months but there were some changes mime. It was special order. I had Teresa put double wool on the backside for extra warmth . and it is the
X large size.and a double hood BUT

I lost 43 pounds so far ! I'm wanting to go down to 185 Lb.

and now I think it's too big.  I think it is "Evening Stand Brown" The horizontal lines have some green in them.
I should put some extra things on and just see how it fits but it sure is baggy with just a flannel shirt on  , when I ordered it I was 240 pounds ,and now I'm 197 pounds . I think I may have my wife put some drawstrings on the bottom.

but Teresa sure does do good work.

Carl

here are some photos of Teresa's  work

Very Nice Carl, Congrats on the weight loss. I started the year at 258 and I am now at 209. Lots of exercise and eating better, but the down side is new clothes. I will try my hoodie on this evening and see how "big" the extra large is. I have sleeping Indian wool I got on the classifieds here a few years back, and it is all big, but I wear it anyway. I don't mind the baggie clothes, and the weight loss is worth it. Congrats on your efforts!

Guys - Teresa is a "One -Woman-Show" I know for a FACT that she spends days at a time on the sewing machine, trying to stay current. She sews things in batches, which is why sometimes it's a week, sometimes a little longer. She has to do it this way, in order to keep scrap down...which keeps cost down. When she gets a special or custom order, well that makes things tougher. Frankly, I have suggested that she stop taking custom orders, but she is hesitant to do so. She likes being able to help a guy out who has a special need, etc.

Aside from being my good friend, Teresa and I have an awesome working relationship. If any of you would rather, contact me and I will take care of your garment. The reason I am able to streamline things for you, is that I can just focus on YOUR need, while Teresa is worrying about zip ups, pullovers, haversacks, GFA quivers, bulk wool shipments, GFA books...It's kinda like the old days when you could probably call Henry Ford and order up a car, but it just became easier to contact the dealership. It won't cost you a penny more through me.

you can contact me by email ([email protected]), PM, or cell phone.

P.S....there is a new shadowy looking plaid coming out in about 10 days.....your gonna like it!!

I ordered one 2 weeks ago and another 5 days ago.  They are both to be dekivered tomorrow.  As they say on their website, they are not always home.  If you catch them at the beginning of a trip...it can be a while.  If they are home then it can be quick (like 5 days)

2 days!  I ordered one of Teresa's zippered wool silent stalker green jacket from Roger at traditionalwoodsman.com Monday and it arrived this morning.  Talk about fast!  Thanks Roger.
