What I really saw
« on: October 26, 2012, 01:43:00 PM »
Today I took my 4 yr old hunting and didn't expect to see much as he is very much like his Mother in the way of excessive verbal communication.  And at first I was right.  I saw no squirrels, no turkeys, no deer, no NOTHING. That's when I realized that when I stopped to listen,  he stopped to listen.  when I sat down, he sat down. When I nocked an arrow, he nocked an arrow. I took the opportunity to thank God for all the blessings that I have received, while holding his hand and when I finished he enthusiastically said "AMEN".  What I saw today was a young boy that is watching my every move and listening to my every word. What an awesome responsibility.
Love your kids.... spend time.  not money.

I just spent the last weekend in bow camp hunting with the 11 year old, giving it the old "middle school try". Going out late, coming in early. We hunted the same blind a couple of times. I set him up on his own in a ladder stand for the first time, while I hunted a little ways away.
His big brother (14 yrs) just took off with his older cousin, did his own scouting and set up. This was a first, also.

It wasn't long ago that the 14 yr. old was my little catter box partner just like yours.

I am making every effort to soak it all in. There is a lot going on in those "see nothing" hunts.

Keep up the good work.
I started shooting a longbow because I thought it would simplify things and it did... now I simply need to get a whole lot closer to hit anything.

Work'n when I have to, fish'n when I can...

Like the song:

"I've been watchin' you Dad.

Ain't that cool.

I'm your buckaroo.

I wanna be like you."

That's how it's supposed to be. You are blessed Sir!

Very cool! I have a 6 month old son and can't wait to have those moments with him.

Cherish the moment because time is like a vapor and you’ll turn and it will soon be gone.

Fun to watch and see my son do the same thing, and scary at the same time.

Man I'm glad you saw what you saw.  I know sometimes I'm to bussy to see what right in front of me.  My son just turned 14 and he killed his first bow-kill a few weeks back.  Keep up the good work.
