Saturday morning found me in my stand right below the house a good 30 minutes before shooting light hoping that the buck I missed two Saturdays ago would show up again. Shortly after daylight I caught a deer moving through the neighbors bean field heading south towards my other stand on the west side of my property. I had hunted over by the river Friday evening and left my pack with my grunt tube in my buddys truck, but fortunately I had left my bleat call in my HSS vest. I hit the bleat 2 times and he turned and did a half circle and entered the woods about 100 yards straight downwind of me. I thought to myself well that's over as soon as he winds me. I went ahead and continued standing and looking just in case. As I was watching to the south where he went in I saw a deer running right towards me, it happened to be a small doe and she came through about 40 yards to my right, I was sure if the buck was following her he would take the same trail she had taken. A few seconds later I caught movement and heard the first grunt. My heart started pounding at the thought that he may just come in close enough! I could see him coming now, 80 yards, 70 yards, 60 yards,50 yards,40 yards, It was like he was on a string coming right down the trail that would put him less than 10 yards to my right!! at 30 yards he turned and headed towards where the doe went. I almost cried!! Then for some reason he turned again and was 15 yards head on and at a fast walk. At this point I was only thinking "pick a spot dummy, pick a spot don't look at his antlers!!!" He walked directly under my tree offering no shot! I waited until he was right behind me at 4 yards and I mouth grunted to stop him. He stopped and turned broadside as I was coming to full draw and focusing only on a spot right behind his shoulder. The next thing I remember was him running with my GT shaft buried to my flo yellow feathers and watching him go down on the edge of the bean field where he came from!!!! I had to sit down at that point because I was about to fall out of the tree due to all the shaking!
Here is a pic of my deer and my favorite hunting buddy!
Here are pics of the holes made by my favorite broadhead ever. The Razorhawk single bevel 150 gr made by Red Feather Archery.

This is the same Razorhawk that I killed my buck with last fall. Just a little touching up with a file and it was sharp as can be again.
