Peroxide for tracking
« on: October 30, 2012, 09:11:00 AM »
Hey Guys and Gals,
Just a reminder that a small pump spray bottle filled with peroxide is a great aid in following that blood trail. Even a very small drop of blood will foam up when sprayed with H2O2. Even works on dried blood. I use a small hair spray bottle, travel size.

Just make sure to mark it with flagging tape too, because the blood goes away afterwards.

Works very well, I actually used it to solve a murder one time.

Been using it for years. I put yellow food color in mine. Just makes it easier to see. Don

Jax, you just spray a mist and let it settle on the ground and bushes until you find the first blood, then hopefully you can get a pretty good idea of direction. There are better products out there now though. Blue Star is a chemical that we use working crime scenes. They now make a version of it just for hunters. The blood will glow very brightly when you hit it. With peroxide you are just watching for it to foam up. If the blood is just pin head specs, it can be hard to do. You just have to look very close. Peroxide is a lot cheaper however.

I've done that before..probably should continue. But I have found that simply by pressing a piece of tissue or TP on something that looks like it might be blood confirms it or not. If it's blood it will soak it up and leave a red spot on the TP.
