I went Pink / have question
« on: October 30, 2012, 11:10:00 AM »
I went to Pink fletching this week love the visability don't think I will ever lose another arrow, but I also hunt the ground 100% of the time. what do you other pink or otherwise extremley bright fletching users do to cover the fletching while hunting. think I will get busted if I don't cover these up some how

I think turkeys would be the only animal that would realize they're pink. They would just look grey to anything else. I don't think it's an issue.

That pink fletching is just another shade of grey to a deers eyes from what I understand.

I use a cover too. You will find all kinds of opinions as to what deer actually see. I tend to err on the side of caution.

I ordered pink just so I would stop worring about a deer picking out my white feathers.....  although movement is the biggest concern I just suspect/hope the pink will be less visible in deer vision.

Uh....what kind of quiver do you use?....that would help.

Also....every color is a shad of gray to deer...from white to black....but colors with florescent dyes added will be brighter.

Yes...movement plays a keys to not getting caught, but movement also plays a key if you actually want to get a shot.

Never used pink, I have used a bunch of other colors, the only one that spooked a deer were white.  They were leaning against a tree, a boss doe saw them and and stared and stamped and snorted and blew.  She didn't know what they were but she knew they hadn't been there the last time she came through...she circled and eventually caught my scent.  Since then, I have been of the opinion that deer look for white, so I use pretty much any other color and haven't had a problem.

I keep mine in a Bow Mate. I would use a fletch cover for sure with a Bow quiver.

I do not cover my bright fletch that I keep in a bow quiver while hunting.  I hunt from a tree and do not believe I have ever been busted for this reason.

I have had deer walk with in feet of me wearing blaze orange for comparison.

Movement and  human or foreign scent should likely be of greater concern.

Having said this, one does feel cryptic and more discreet when everything is of natural tones and/or camouflage.  As a result, it is likely more of a confidence thing for the hunter than a "red flag" for the animal.

As Terry said "What kind of quiver do you use?" I put my brightly fletched arrows in a Safari Tuff Arrowmaster quiver. It's the best all around quiver I have ever seen. Gary

I use the pink.  No problems here and I just put them in and go.  God Bless

My arrows are crown dipped in hot pink, with all pink feathers. Never had a deer spook yet and I use a backquiver most of the time and Catquiver.

Catquivers take care of whatever color you want to use. Green and two white for me this year. And yeah the deer do see those white fletch, sometimes to your advantage if you flutter that arrow just right. Must look like a tail flicking back and forth. If they have'nt smelled you or caught movement, get ready, you might be suprised.......
