My first trad buck was very similar.  He's in my avatar.  Went through both hams and thankfully hit a big vessel on the way through.  My next kills were better.  It's a process and there is no end point.  Great job.

Great Job.  I did the same thing on a Cow Elk, thankfully recovered her after 200 yds. Life is full of lessons!
