Took My Youngest For a Hunt....
« on: November 03, 2012, 08:32:00 PM »
My 12 year old daughter Ashlee loves going up to our deer camp and expressed an interest in hunting with me, so with school and being a single Dad, we finally had time alone together (without big sis) to take a stroll through a hunting area near home.

The leaves were too crunchy and she's a chatter-box, but we had fun and laughed a lot.

Ash insisted we should head down hill to explore a big marshy area. It was as steep as some hills I've hunted in CO...

We got to hang out for a while before my oldest daughter had to be picked up sooner than expected, so we boogied back up and hoofed it to the truck. Here's some pics of my little soon-to-be huntress, I'm very glad she loves the woods...

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

David, it's a St.Joe River bow I got her for Christmas. I put a GN quiver on it, filled with some of our very own Rob Green arrows. She's a beginner still, so she's a stump shooter for now.

Its not the size of the animal you hunt that matters. Its how you hunt the animal.

Thanks everyone! It felt great to spend time in the woods with her, without pressure or a plan, just exploring and chatting.

She's the first one to volunteer to help make ground blinds or go on a scouting trip during the off season whenever we're at camp in the summer. She is also the last kid who ever wants to go inside...she reminds me of myself when I was her age.

Just have to get her shooting a good weight before any big game is hunted (if she chooses to)...

Until then, I'll get her out there with me any chance I get. We are working on her sister, who enjoys camp and exploring, but is a self-described "girly girl". LOL

Big sis already has a couple bows and is a pretty decent shot, when she decides to join the fun.

It's good when kids want to get out in the woods rather than video games and texting! Good for you two!
