The Chase (picture heavy)
« on: November 04, 2012, 10:48:00 AM »
Yesterday I saw a buck birddoging a doe around in the thicket behind the house. I get up this morning and look out back and see that they are still out there. Can you say "Lockdown". I grabbed my camera and quietly snuck out the back door. She is still wanting no part of what he is selling.

Then I noticed the buck I see rubbing a small tree behind the shed isn't the one I had seen yesterday, he is smaller. She was still penned up against the open spaces of my yard.

As I snapped a closeup of her I then noticed another deer behind her.

The little guy finished taking out his frustrations on the tree and heads to the party.

But he stops and is reluctant to approach her.

The bigger buck has enough and runs him off a short distance.

And returns to his mate

The little guy doesn't give up though and heads back to the game.

She still not amused lays down in hopes they will just go away.

This is still playing out as I just saw them over the hill. I'll try to keep an eye out to see if the deed ever takes place. Would it be weird to photograph that???

The older buck sees his chance and try's once again.

She springs from her bed and takes off.

Interesting statement RedShaft. This tree wasn't rubbed three days ago and when this dance is over these deer will not stay here, they never stay in here. Imagine a hunter walking through and finding this fresh rub and thinking here is a great place to set up a spot to hunt. The deer long gone and the hunter just killing some time.

Haha, now why would I want to ruin his day before he has his fun? Plus his right antler is broken off just after his G1

TJ,
Looks like you've got a prime hunting spot right out your back door. Thanks for sharing.

Cool pics!

I nearly got run over by a buck chasing after a doe Saturday morning. Things are definitely heating up in the woods...

Oh make no mistake, you need to grab your bow...but its because you need to be after whatever he was fighting when he broke that antler!

Cool pics though. No it wouldn't be creepy to photograph it. Not many people see it in the wild. Id want pics if I managed to catch it live.
