I got married on October 6th and my wife gave me a new longbow on our wedding day.  So after we got back from the honeymoon I tuned up my bow and made sure it was ready to go.  We recently moved to Illinois and I have not been able to find anywhere to hunt so we headed back to Indiana on tuesday to hunt for a few days.

Here's a few pics of the bow she got me.  It's a Great Northern Lil' Creep with the jack-knife take-down system.  It's 53@28.

So one of my best friends came over to hunt with me on friday afternoon.  It was a very slow afternoon and we were starting to wonder if we were going to see anything at all.  But right around 6:00pm a few does were making their way across our CRP field towards the woods.  I was able to get a shot around 7 yards at the biggest doe.  I buried the arrow up to the fletching high behind the shoulder and she took off right towards my buddy Justin in his tree.    She ran right past him and crashed just out of sight.  We didn't have to follow the blood trail very long and we found her.

I was shooting gold tip traditionals with 150 grain woodsman elite broadheads.  I hit high behind the shoulder and it exited low and tight behind the opposite shoulder.  Great way to break in my wedding present longbow.

Great story.  One word of advice. NEVER SELL THAT BOW!  I have seen others on hear regretting selling a bow that the wife bought them.  Good Mojo there.
