A few days ago I posted about a new property my brother and I got access to.  Well tonight this area paid off for me and Mike, my little brother.

A couple Christmases ago, I gave him the bow, an old Ben Pearson takedown.  It's 45# at 28".  I think Mike draws more like 29".  This Fall, I made him the arrows, some GT Blems tipped with 190 Ribteks.

Around 5:00 he texted me that he shot a doe.  I was happy but worried when he said he only had maybe a third of the arrow in the deer.

I hunted the rest of the night and actually had 2 shots at the same big old doe.  I mmmmisssed both times.  Yikes.  My little brother showing me up   :)

After dark, I met up with Mike.  The landowner wanted to help with the tracking so we waited.  When he arrived, he said he had seen a weird acting deer on the way in and he and Mike went up to see if they could find blood.  That left me to blood trail.  Thankfully it was a pretty easy job.  Less than 75 yards from first blood, I found his deer.  It was a button buck and he had hammered him in both lungs.  It's his first bow kill, and with a recurve, no less.  I am very proud and happy.

By the way, he did get a hole on the opposite side.  He hit a rib to prevent further penetration.  The old bow did its job.
