Tree Stick and wooden arrows??
« on: August 15, 2007, 01:07:00 PM »
I have two Tree Sticks longbows and want to try wooden arrows, but I don't have much experience with them. Everyone I have tried out of different bows, just didn't fly straight for me like carbons or aluminium.

Let's start with the new one, since I can get up to and over 10 gpp with it I think.

It is 62" AMO, 58# @ 29.5" one piece, center shot (3/16" inside center) 450 plus string or I may put a TS-1 string on it. I shoot 160 grain Snuffers glue on. The limbs have a fair amount of reflex and are bamboo core with osage veneers, if that matters. Arrows need to be at least 30 1/4" long.

You woodie experts, what spine and type of wood do I need to shoot out of this bow and also get around 10gpp or more?? A good starting point.

Thank, Mike    :campfire:

Mike, I would think you are going to need something in the 80-85 or 85-90 pound spine range.  I think with that 160 grain head you should be able to get up to around 600 grains with cedars.  I have some cedars that Paul Jalon of Elite Arrows made that come out right at 600 grains with a 150 grain head.

Mike,
Troy Breeding is very familiar with Tim's bows and could guide you in the right direction.
