The past weekend I wend hunting with my friend Jay to his property at Hancock New York. It is my second year hunting. I decided to use a 54" Saluki Turk this time because it is short and would be better for tree stand.
This must be the right time because we saw deers all over the place. Finally a doe came near enough and stood right below my tree stand. But she got covered by branches and leaves. I bent down a bit and found a window to shoot. Arrow hit the hind side. It was 20 minutes before sunset and was too dark to track down. That was a nervous night and a lot of doubts came across my mind questioning whether I did all the right things.
We resumed the search next morning. The arrow hit the artery so we have found enough blood to track down the doe. She was 125lbs. Jay walked me through dressing the doe. we brought her to butcher afterward.
Very happy after all for first time ever harvested a deer. Will have some venison this weekend.
Thanks Jay. Very nice experience to hunt and will continue to hunt.
