Budget Bow Suggestions (Left Handed)
« on: November 13, 2012, 09:37:00 PM »
Ok fellas, I have decided to take the leap. I am going to buy my first R/D Longbow! I have spent some time over at the Anneewakee Archery pro shop(Kanati bow quivers)and fell in love with a 43# @ 28" R/D Longbow 56". I am concerned that the 43# is a little low, I shot some 50# and felt good with the bow weight. I do like 56" length instead of 60". Anyway, the bow is in the $500 price range and that is more than I am looking to spend. I am also interested in a take down model as well. Can you guys give me some suggestions of a quality bow maker that offers what I'm looking for in the $150-$300 range?

Look forward to hearing your suggestions!

Eric, thanks so much for the offer! I live in Bethel, NC which is only about 8 miles from John. 13 miles North of Greenville.

I'd love to get together.

Boondock,
I work sometimes in the Hillsville, VA area.  Don't know if that's close to your part of NC or not, but I've got several longbows you are welcome to shoot if you would like.

I dont think there is anything in takedown under $500!!

you could possibly get it done for $300 if you find a used one piece, buy a bow bolt and install it yourself. the bowbolt costs $90 bucks. the only hard part is drilling the holes for the bow bolt. perhaps you know a bowyer or machine shop who could to that for you. cheers

traditionalarcherysales.com  Len Busbee buys and sells used bows. I have bought a couple from him and saved lots of cash. Check out the website he always has lots of great bows.

In that price range you will have a tough time for two reasons
1) you're a lefty and cheap used bows are tough to find
2) a takedown r/d bow will usually start at around 500$ and go up from there new.

I would suggest looking at some t/d recurves (ILF preferebly) if you want a t/d bow for sure. Otherwise you have a few more options. I hear good things about omega long bows. There's an awesome Bama lefty t/d expidition in the classifieds right now as well.
