Kill arrow display?
« on: November 14, 2012, 03:46:00 PM »
Does anybody have some pics or ideas of a neat way to display a kill arrow? Means more to me to have the visual representation of the arrow than another one in the quiver, can always replace them!

I make hangers out of driftwood for stuff like that. I'm about a half mile from the Mississippi so I just go find some flat driftwood. Clean it up. Then I Woodbury the date and other info into it and hang it on the wall.

Only the broken ones which I hang about in the antlers, not necessarily the antlers the arrow killed. Not very scientific but I'm not sentimental over kill arrows.

I re-use the heads.  This year's deer was the third on this same Stos.  The shafts (cedar or Douglas fir) invariably break.  I have a bunch of them in the cellar rafters around my workbench.  I have five "experienced" broadheads on stubs of bloody shafts stuck in a 2 x 4 beside my reloading/arrowsmithing bench.

Hardly a "display" but I sure like looking at them and reminiscing.

I don't have a wood burner, but am pretty handy with some sand paper and a hand saw   :bigsmyl:  I'll see if I can come up with something before too long.

Here's a few of mine........This one has 3 to 4 on each row of pegs, and the arrows are tagged with data.

I don't have a son....so I'm saving what I can in case I have a grandson.
