Mickey, you are a fine fellow no matter what you shoot. But heck, give that critters half a chance and keep to the primative path. A born hunter with your level of skill and experience would disrupt the natural balance if you retrograde even an inch back to tech. What next? Tree stands above 8 feet... measuring antlers... CAMO!??? say it ain't so.

The pain meds will wear off and you'll be your old self in no time. Hang tough!

Yeah, that's just the medicine talking.  Draw weight is draw weight so switching bows won't help.  All the nuances of your self bow, cane shaft, floppy rest and all natural feathers would be missing and that would throw you off during the season, and you can't hunt properly feeling out of balance.  You can still hunt feeling a little under the weather, but not off balance.    :archer:

We are glad that you have come to us for support.  And if you need some physical therapy you can come over and hunt the mountains with me this fall.  We'll run the weakness out of you on the slopes.

Get well soon!! (and only get the pretty POCs with plastic nocks for research on your chapter)

Dang it!  You guys are trying to talk him into staying primitive, and I was just about to volunteer to take all his old equipment.    :bigsmyl:

Hang in there, Mickey.  We're all rootin' for ya, no matter what you use.  Hope the health gets back to normal quick.  I know not feeling well, even if it's nothing real serious, can really get a guy down.

By the way, I've about got a dozen cane shafts straightened, plugged, and ready to mount some stone heads.  Probably wouldn't be near as far along without your help and encouragement, both in person and thru your tutorials.

Mickey, first, I hope your health improves. Sorry to hear it hasn't been up to parr.
I have contemplated using my Treadway bow this year because I haven't had the time to practice as much as I should have, especially since I have completed a new hunting osage bow and sourwood arrows for this season. My Treadway has been good medicine in the past and I shoot it very well.
After shooting only self bows of my own making for the last 3 years it feels strange not only shooting a glass bow again but the thought of not shooting one of my bows, as I promised myself, until I score with my bow and homemade sourwood arrows weighs heavy.
Most importantly is your health. What you decide to shoot during this season is your choice and nobody on this board or other boards will think less of you for making your own decission.     Pat

I'd get a second opinion, with all of that "primative" stuff your shooting, ya might just have termites!  :biglaugh:

Most important, get better and re-coup! I say "Shoot what floats your boat!"

Good Luck and Godspeed!

Good Luck, Mickey.. Get better soon!
Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"

Hey there, Mickey.  Hope "whatever ails you" is a short termed thing so you can get back to the good stuff. As long as there are no wheels on it, it's probably OK. Larry

ROTFL you guys are a trip. This has been a most enjoyable thread for me. The levity lifts my spirits.

Just so you know, let me tell you what's going on medically (heck someone may have gone through the same thing and can help)

Talondale asked if I had been sanding yew again, and the answer is no, but it feels like it. Having some sort of respiratory problem they can't seem to cure. Started 2 months ago. Hard to breath and cough a lot. Had a course of antibiotics that didn't clear it up, then a course of steroids that didn't clear it up and then a course of stronger steroids that didn't clear it up. At that point the docs supposed I might have pneumonia and sent me for lung xrays 2 dys before Mojam ,which turned out clear. Put me on anithistamines or anti allergy drugs which have been largely inefective. Lots of bloodwork had revealed that my bilirubin (a by-product of red blood cells dying..a natural occurance every 120 days) which  is supposed to be disposed of by the liver. Mine is apparently storing it. They thought that might be becasue of my cholesterol medicine so they took me off the cholesterol medicine. Sent to a gastrointestial specialist. He sent me for more blood work and a ultrasound of my organs. Testing for diabetes and hepatitus among other things. Haven't heard back on that stuff yet but I should hear by tomorrow I would think. They did the testing last week.

Apparently two separate problems occuring simultaneously..sort of like deflex and limb twist in the same stave.   :knothead:

Of course since I can't breath well, I'm not getting enough oxygen to the brain which makes me tired and think about going back to glass bows ha ha Whew..see how this all started?    :biglaugh:

Sometimes I think the doctors burn down the house trying to rid the attic of bees if you get my drift.

Hang in there Mickey.  It sounds pretty frustrating and pretty draining.  My father recently suffered a similar episode and it turned out to be a lung infection.  Maybe a second opinion starting at the beginning with antibiotics?  I'm sure you've thought of it all and more.

Keep your spirits up and this too shall pass.

Ron very similar to asthma only there is no whezzing sound when trying to breath, so asthma was dismissed.

Glass bows, plastic nocks, colorful feathers and a lack of oxygen to the brain?  Sounds to me like you just need to loosen the strings on your corset. (Oops, that was Bernie.  Sorry!)  :bigsmyl:

Probably.

Probably chewed on lead painted window sills too. I know I spray painted motorcycle tanks and fenders in a paint booth made out of a shower curtain in my parent's basement (still can't believe we didn't blow that house up since we were mmaybe 10 feet from the furnace) and I rode my bicycle behind the mosquito spray truck when I was 9 years old in Florida getting sprayed all over so we wouldn't get mosquito bit..oh and I did spend my teenage years growing up in a house across the street from a chemical plant..but I doubt if any of those things affected me     :saywhat:

Mickey, We used to ride our bikes behind the mosquito truck in Savannan when we were growing up. Also used to play with murcury...makes a dime real shiny and slippery and swam at Savannah Beach while nuclear waste was being dumped in the Savannah River(1950s) so it couldn't be anything like that. Could it possibly be eating too many HDFH?   Pat

Ahh the good ol days

The HDFH may play heck with your stomach and intestines but I doubt if they hurt your lungs or liver    :biglaugh:

Infectious wood grindings. Be careful those glass bows may make you TO accurate! Oh ya, don't chew on any China made toys for a while. Hope you feel better soon.
