Hello All!
Figured I'd start off by introducing myself. My name's Randy Jones and I'm from Orange County, Virginia. I am new to traditional archery, I just started it this year, got a new longbow for my birthday a Carpathian Traditional Archery (CTA) Red Stag 64" longbow 57# @ 28".
I am 23 years old, and I am currently a full time student at University of Mary Washington, currently I'm in my senior year and expected to graduate in the Spring (2013) and my major is Computer Information Technology. Even though I am new, I have done some preliminary research on proper tuning of arrows I bought online which is Easton's Traditional Archery Only carbon shafts 400 spine (9.1 gpi) at 28.5" (my draw is 26.5" and probably around 53 pounds) and currently I am shooting 145 grain field points. And I've pretty much been scouring this forum before deciding to join. I've also been practicing with the bow and getting pretty decent at it, however my form still needs a little work.
What got me into traditional archery was that I am a compound bow hunter of 10 years, I took my first deer when I was 13, a decent 6 pointer. And I am to the point where I can shoot a 1/2" group at 35 yards. So I wanted to challenge myself more and my folks all began shooting crossbows
, so I wanted to go the other direction and therefore I decided to go traditional.
So I just wanted to say hello and I am looking forward to meeting you all and expanding my knowledge and experience with traditional archery, and get to the point where I can make my own equipment and kill some deer with it.
