New Bear Archery Bows
« on: November 21, 2012, 01:31:00 PM »
Hello happy holidays too all.
With Christmas around the corner has anybody tried the new bear bows??
I did read about the take downs.  B handles have a smaller grip which suits me as I am smaller>
Tell me what you guys think..

Funny you should mention it, my wife caught me checking out a bear montana at the bass pro shop. Asked if I would like one for Christmas... I said they didn't have one in the draw weight I would like, 40 lbs. She later asked how we could get one so I introduced her to the 3 rivers website. It came in the mail yesterday. I was allowed to unpack it to be sure it wasn't damaged in shipment. Of course I explained I would also have to string it :^) ... nice bow!

No, she has no interest. I have had to down size in draw weight, which isn't such s big deal since I only stump and 3D shoot anyway.

If I sent her my wifes's number, do you think she could convince my wife to get me a new bow?

Ridgerunner- the new Bear bows are top quality. I started out with a Grizzly.  My brother bought himself a Super Grizzly. Me personally I dont think the Super Grizzly is worth the extra money. If youre wanting a current manufactured recurve I'd stick with the regular grizzly and be able to get yourself some arrows or what-not.

Or search the classifieds here and pick up a vintage bow for even less and it'll have awesome joo-joo on it already and then you'll have even more extra play money.

Just my two cents.

These are great ideas have been watching the ads
here off and on.  any new bows will  have to be snuck in under cover of dark or thru the back ..
wink wink...I think the super griz,  is the best looker at of the bunch but then again
The new takedowns are quite nice...
I have just picked up my first take apart bow
a brackenberry.
I like being able to stash it in the car and put it together and hunt freestyle..you never know when the time is perfect.  we do alot of traveling around SC  and there is lotsa places to
go.

The super griz is a sweet bow if you draw 28.5 inches or less.

Here is my take on the Bear bows. Personally, I like them. I have shot the Ausable, Patriot, K-mag, Super K, Grizzy, Montana and the Takedowns.  I am a longbow shooter myself, and have a hard time shooting recurves.

With that said the Super K and the Takedown shot really well for me. I absolutely love the Montana and the Patriot and Ausable were outstanding shooters, just a little too radical R/D for my tastes.

BUT, and there is always a but. Unless I needed the bow today and my shop had one in, for the prices that they are asking for most of their lineup I could have one built for me in a pretty short time frame with a lot of the bowyers at the same or real close to the same price.

Case in point:  I just ordered a JD Berry Vixen and it is costing me $475 TYD and it will be at my house probably before christmas. The only thing slowing it down is I was a little picky on riser wood and James had to order in my glass.  Also Kegan at Omega bows puts out an awesome Hybrid at $360 TYD in a very short wait time also.  Craig at HHA will have it to you in a month for about $600.

So, even though I LOVE the Bears there are custom bowers with a more personal touch out there that can meet or beat the prices and the customer service is outstanding.  But, if you want a Bear bow ALL the ones I shot were amazing and I would be happy to own any of them.
