Hey Huntress looks like you have a bunch of opportunities and I would take up Don's offer to come by and shoot at his shop.  Again, we would love to see you visit one of our shoots at CTA.

Huntress, we are "the folks that make bow quivers" in Mebane. We have a storefront and manufacture quivers on the premises. Look forward to meeting you sometime.

Whew, lots of good ideas here, thank you!

I need to talk with the landowner some more. We are having a poaching problem, which is part of why I don't want to hunt there alone. The land is not yet posted, so I need to see if he is willing to do that. He offered to write me a permission slip, but I do not have it yet.

To those that have asked about getting in on the lease - it's not an extremely formal arrangement, so I don't know that I could get anyone else in on it. I will ask!

Ok, checked out Sissipahaw Trad Archers...that's the club I'll join in January. Burlington is a LOT closer for me.

Am I reading the website right that if I join that club, I'll automatically join the NC Bowhunters Assoc at the same time?

I believe that is correct about automatic NCBA membership with Sissipahaw. Someone will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks, LCH - that was my next question. I will plan to be there. Anybody else interested in hunting with me, it would be great if we could meet there!

Arrowhead80 - it's in Moncure.

Wow.  I had no idea there was an archery shop just down the street from my parents house in Mebane!

Don,  I'm going to come by your shop as soon as I can.  I visit Mebane once a week, for my parents.  Is your shop open after 5pm?

Thanks for the thread Huntress.  You're not the only one getting good info : )

Jan, looks like you have made some friends already. You'll like it at Sissipahaw. It's a good setting and there are nice people there.

Richard, we are open usually to 5:30pm but we make exceptions for anyone from out of town.

Jan,
I apologise for the comment on NC forum in the state groups as there isn't one but knew alot of NC shooters are members here. Looks like you are on the right track for finding other shooters. Good luck and maybe you might consider coming to Va. for the STAR Shoot in Roanoke sometime. Regardless, enjoy the journey.

Thanks Tom! I appreciate it - still feel like a babe in the woods with this forum and thought maybe I had missed it somewhere.

I would love to come up to Roanoake sometime. I know another great archer up there anyway. When are the STAR shoots?

You're going to really like the Sissipahaw club, great bunch of people.  I'd be there for the Dec shoot but Woodcock season is open that weekend.  If you stumble across any quail or a funny looking bird that looks like a quail with a long nose give me a call.

Jan,
The STAR shoot usually is in early June but be forewarned to bring a good set of boots as it is hilly but well worth it as the club does a great job with this shoot. Alot of fun. Hope you had a good fall so far.

I found some friendly locals who showed me the entrance. Thanks for the recommendations, gang. I'm going to join Sissipahaw - they are some nice folks!
