Piebald deer (pic)

I thought I would share a picture of a piebald deer I took in South Carolina. Pretty neat. Have any of you seen a piebald in the wild?

Great picture  - yes I have seen them we have a few around here - it always takes my eyes a second to adjust - I have not always recognized them as deer right off ?! ridiculous I know - what else would they be

I saw a yealing blacktail spike about 4yrs ago, the only one I've ever seen.

I have killed two and have seen a few others.  
One Lil 7pt with compound bare bow
A doe with muzz. Wish I was older when I got them I would love to have had them full body mounted now. But I have them both shoulder mounted

They are pretty unique.
My cousin shot one a number of years ago and in the late 70's when working for Scott Paper, I jumped a 6 pointer while working. Right out in the middle of a raspberry infested clear cut at 2PM.
I didn't know what I was looking at, first I'd ever heard of/seen.

I have harvested a piebald doe and a seven pointer off of the same farm......have not seen anymore since those two....one was in 2003, the other one 2007....

We have some, but we can't shoot them...albinos either. Some idiot legislator got a law passed that an albino or at least 50 percent white deer should be protected. The racist!

30coupe I agree about Idiot Legislators! Now the "protected" will either Starve or Die some horrible Death from overcrowding and Disease. Makes ya wonder HOW they come up with their Educated Decisions, ya know?
  He must be one of "them thar College Gradyutes". No Offense to the College Graduates here.
  The scary part is, those Idiots are Running the Country...... Right into the Ground!! Sad, its just plain Sad.

I have seen several. I killed a small piebald buck with a Bear Cheyenne a few years ago.

I saw one here in NJ the other day.  She was grazing with a normally pelaged doe.  Face had a lot of extra white around the muzzle and eyes.  From the rear legs back was all white.  So were the lower legs near the hooves.  Pretty cool looking.  This was in southern NJ about 20 minutes west of Atlantic City.  When I lived and hunted in northern NJ where Whitetails are overabundant I saw this mutation a few more times.  

My personal opinion is that they should be fair game just like any other deer.  Protecting a genetic mutation really makes no sense.  Now you might think that something so bright would stand out from the crowd and become coyote dinner pretty quick, right?  I hunted a private property a few years back in North Jersey.  It was a management hunt and one of the guys saw a pure white fawn.  We decided to leave it off limits just to see how long it would last.  I think she made it at least 10 years, but I don't hunt there anymore and lost touch with the other guys.  Pretty amazing.  Looked like a freakin' ghost coming through the woods.

We have a couple on our lease.  I've seen them before the season and at night during the season-they look like ghosts at night standing in the field, especially with a full moon-but never when hunting.

I have seen one in 46 years.

I have only seen pics. That is very cool. I am not sure if I could shoot that one or not?

I was fortunate enough to harvest one this fall.
They are defintaly neat. I took it tio the taxidermist to have it tanned.
