Ever seen a riser like this?

My friend gave me this riser. It is cracked and useless, but he knows I shoot trad and like odd stuff, here it is. Not sure who made it, but it is interesting. Have y'all ever seen such a critter?
Kinda like a rifle with a thumb hole stock. The grip feels good, but the balance feels top heavy.
God Bless,
Nathan

With heavy emphasis on the fact that it is "in my humble personal opinion", that thing is uglier than a frozen overshoe!

There were lots of odd bows made before compounds were ever thought of. I've seen several that are very similar to that in my day but can't tell you much more than that.

That is very cool.

Looks like a flight bow to me as well. An over draw and some leather to protect your hand.

It looks like something Bill Stewart may have built. He experimented with "shoot-thru" risers, thumb holes, and multi-cam limbs.

No offence to anyone, but that to me is ugly, just my view, to each his own. Interesting though.

Mr. drake did make odd shaped risers for his flight bows. But, I never saw a Drake bow with that riser.

The actionwood makes me think it is an 80's build of some sort.

I kinda like it. It would be heavy, though.

Not really. It is not much heavier than any other bow riser I have held.
I don't really have an opinion of like or dislike on the riser, it's just different. I like odd stuff.

Nathan

I guess you're right. I'm just used to skinny featherweight longbows.
