Which arrows/point weight?

I will be getting my very own used Tall Tines hopefully by the end of next week!!! Archery season is temporarily closed until shotgun season gets over so that will hopefully give me enough time to get arrows tuned up and ready to go to finally be able to take my first trad deer! I finally worked up the courage to sell my compound which gave me enough money to buy that TT with some saved up money for arrows and broadheads....my questionis-----which carbon arrow and weight if VPA 3 and 2 blade broadhead? 54# @28" I draw 28. I will shoot deer turkey elk small game and someday moose caribou and sheep sspecies. ...

i want to try a tall tines but i have several bows that are close to that weight.i shoot a howatt hunter 54@28 30 inch 400s with 225 grain heads,now my widow likes a 340 with the same head weight...i would think a 400 should do you though....

Jacob, I too am thinking a 400 spine carbon. I was shooting Hoyt Buffalo, 50#@28" with a 29" Easton 400 with a 100 gr. brass insert and both 200 and 250 gr. points. Not sure how much the Tall Tines is cut past center..........3/16" I'm guessing, so you might get by with a 50 gr. insert. I have got some stuff that I can help you out with. What about woodies, I started with carbon in my talltines, but in love with cedar shafts, they are sweet.

I know logan was shooting 400s out of the bow you are getting.  not sure exact length but if you ask him im sure he will help you out!  That is a very nice bow, shot it myself a few times.

get some of the GT Blems from Big Jim to start with that way if they don't perform good your not out too much.  What is your draw length?  Maybe a 55/75 with a 175/200gr VPA or 35/25s with 150gr VPA

I would go with the arrow dynamics trad light if you are using a point weight under 200 grains. Over 200 grains go with the regular trads. You won't find a better shaft.

Just got some MAJOR sticker shock from AD's and Grizzly Stik shafts, they are out of my league as hard as I am on arrows haha! I do like wood, but just starting out I really prefer carbon's as they can easily go from broadhead to fp to SGT with a few twists and I don't have to purchase a burner and fuel etc. I was looking for heavier weight carbons, and found the Carbon Express Pile Driver Hunter arrows are 10.4 gpi with their 250's (.402) spine. So I figure with a 32" arrow, 75 grain insert, 200 grain VPA 2/3 blade head, and feathers I should be right around 615 grains out of a 54# bow that should be good I would think. Anybody care to enlighten me as far as how to figure out the foc if I don't actually have the arrow handy?!?!

I am like a little kid in a candy store haha! Found AD Hammer Head arrows on 3rivers for $120 bare shafts. not a bad deal, they come in 35-55 or 55-70. Thinking I should get 55-70, leave full length and adjust insert/point weight? I think that sounds right, any other opinions? I am wanting a "heavy" shaft (shooting 54#s) and I do like taper technology. Kind of want them to match my bow as well, black glass limbs and I believe rosewood dymondwood riser TT recurve.
