My son shoots a compound very well at the age of 9 he shoots between a 180 to 195 on a 20 target 3d course so he is pretty good I think. Now I dont even own a wheeled bow anymore trad only so he wants a bow like dads I go down to Archers Advantage in Little Rock pretty good folks there just really to busy to do much BSing, anyway I bought him some 1716 alum ultra lights with 75 gn glue in points the only problem is on the recurve I bought him at his DL he is only pulling about 17 1/2#s at 19 1/2"s but his arrows weigh in at 325 which is way to heavy in my book for a light weight bow. I cut them to 26"s but it didnt make that big of a difference what other kind of arrow could I buy him to be lighter I am from the Rick Welch school of thought so lighter is better in this case please help  Mike

My 10-12 year old grandkids shoot a vintage Browning Spartan 30# @ 28" but I'm not sure what their draw length is. I made up 1716s with 75 gr points at 28" and they shoot really well out of this rig for them. I'd give the 1716's a try first before throwing in the towel on them.
