Riser rebuilt, or El Cheapo Rides Again!!

Don't know if you followed the "El Cheapo" build along I did a few months back that resulted in my first laminated bow. Was decent looking and a good shooter:
Whilst try a FF string with loose nocks, I managed to dry fire it and quickly learned of my design flaws
Well the limbs were good and I loved the way she shot so I ordered a new chunk of actionwood this time in an effort to make it bomb proof. I was anxious to get it ready for bow season. Here's the riser with limb pads cut, and I reused part of the phenolic and walnut from the old riser for some good mojo and hoped it would all work well together:

Sorry about the first one but the second looks very nice also. I think it's neat that you salvaged all you could.

Kind of funny that a guy who can afford to hunt Africa is worried about spending a few dollars on a bow. I'm sure it will be a great feeling of accomplishment taking African game with a bow you built yourself. Nice job, she looks good.
I use to tie flies for a guy worth millions, some of the cheap things I seen him do was to save sandwich baggies, use coupons at the store and collect aluminum cans and sell them.

Mike, If you knew I was an engineer, would it explain why I'm cheap!?
Plus I wasn't sure if I'd like making my own bow or if I could actually make one that shoots! Didn't want to blow a bunch of money - plus by being cheap is the only way I could go to Africa. My wife's been saving for 5 years to send me for our 20th anniversary. Can't wait to see what the 30th will bring!

Best of luck on your trip and don't forget the camera!

I liked it the first time, but the second time it came out flat out pretty. Why don't you call her "Recycle"? :p

Thanks for all the nice comments - I'll keep my wife.
I chrono'ed the bow and it seems as solid and as fast as before I blew her up! Drawing just short of 29" with 7" brace height - around 50 lbs draw weight, with a FF string and yarn silencers - 12 arrow averages.
About 167fps with a 560 grain woodie
About 187 with 425 GoldTip.
For fun, I really cranked deep into my anchor - maybe 30" - and shot a 9 arrow group at an average of 195.5! Maybe I should draw like that all the time, my extreme spread was on 3.5 fps - pretty consistent.
Can't wait for deer season! Now just need to decide between the POC or GoldTips and stick with it...aargh! STeve
