Shakespeare delamination repair help
« on: December 09, 2012, 03:58:00 AM »
Hello all. First post here. It's a shame this is it's topic. I decided to get a bow for Christmas this year. I had decided on a Samick Sage, but my buddy said his neighbor was selling a bow. Long story short, I now own two Shakespeare bows. A 58" 50# Necedah, and a 54" 55# Super Necedah. I started shooting the Necedah since it would be easier, and more forgiving. After about three days, a 3/8" wide piece of fiberglass split and bowed out from the upper limb. I've read about repairing it with loctite. I just want to see what you guys think about it. The bow looks like it may have been worn by a rack or something because it has a small patch on both limbs where you can see the weave of the fiberglass through the finish. I just figured it was cosmetic. Could that cause this failure? Do you see any reason this couldn't be repaired?
