Toelke Whip HS Take Down
« on: December 09, 2012, 02:17:00 PM »
A few weeks back I posted an ad in the classifieds that I was looking for a take down Toelke Whip. I figured I would have better luck finding a needle in the haystack. As luck would have it-- Mr.Dan Toelke himself sent me a pm. I put a phone call into Montana Bows that evening and had a great conversation with Dan. Dan informed me he had a bow that he built for himself for the fall hunting season in the specs I was looking for and that he was willing to part with          :)          It arrived Friday and since it's raining a bit here today I had some time to put a few arrows through it.

It's 62" 50#@28" with the bow bolt take down option. The grip is nice but different from what I have become use to. I am however warming up to it and finding some immediate success in the accuracy department. It's flat shooting and zero handshock. This is my first opportunity to shoot a Toelke Whip. No wonder they have such a great following! Here are a few pics

You are a very lucky man. If Dan made it for himself you know it has to be a shooter!

Dan's personal bows are usually pretty plain, that may be the prettiest one he ever made for himself.

That's a beauty for sure! I can't imagine being a guy like Dan , who makes these fantastic bows , in the sense that i would want to hoard all these good woods for my own bows and have my own huge collection. One must pay the bills though. Congrats on a beautiful bow!!!

Dan builds a phenomenal bow. I've been working with him the last five or six weeks on a Lynx takedown he's building for me. I sent him my riser from one of his Curlew takedowns that has a perfect grip on it for me to duplicate on the Lynx riser. The Curlew riser had a few bumps and bruises on it from hunting. I talked to Dan Friday and he said my new Lynx was in the mail along with my "refinished" Curlew riser at no charge. Never expected that, Dan's a class act for sure and his bows are superb. Congrats on your new Whip, it won't be your last Toelke.

Pete Ward did a review on Dan's Whip, he spoke very highly of the whip. I really like the lines of the whip.

Very nice congrats, good for you.

I can't imagine how quiet and calm that bow must be -- considering the heavy phenolic riser.

A 58" bow-bolt Whip is what I'm saving my dollars for right now. Dan is a master craftsman, an artisan, and an all-around great guy to deal with.

Kevin, I have almost that exact same bow. My whip td is 52 lbs at 28"I've love it from day one. Got mine use from Tom at RMSGear. I was'nt looking for a Toelke until I shot this one. It's fast, smooth, light, shoots were I'm looking and like your a peace of art. Hope you enjoy it.

It's official! This Whip has found a home in the Michigan woods    :)

I would also like to echo the statements False Cast has made about Dan and his abilities to build such a fine bow. Pretty happy camper right now.

Surprised it took you this long to give a Toelke a spin Kevin.  You have owned the best of the best and Dan's bows are right up there.

Remember Marty's black bear video he showed on Kodiak?  That was a great testimonial.
